Grampian Foods

The chilled distribution division of Grampian Country Pork (formerly Halls of Broxburn) supplies retail and catering outlets with a range of meat and bakery products. These are delivered on a daily basis by forty vans visiting an average of over 30 customers per day. Some customers are on credit and need a delivery note while others are on a cash basis and need a calculated invoice.

Grampian wanted to improve customer service and communication between remote sites and the distribution center.

Portable handhelds are now used with in-cab printers to operate van stock and sales providing accurate paperwork of actual goods delivered. The delivery information is transmitted in electronic format to and from the company’s AS400 business system via ISDN connection.

Benefits:Daily sales and order data entered electronically has saved office resources whilst driving production planning, scheduling and accounting processes.
Accurate billing by the van sales operation has resulted in increased customer satisfaction and easier accounting of stocks and cash.
